We are a team of enthusiasts dedicated to development and application of algorithms, numerical simulations, machine learning and related fields for examination and assessment of product safety, environmental safety, including related consulting, training and services.
SAFE+ Algorithmics GmbH was founded in 2019 by Dr. Rainer Brandsch, a chemist with material science background and Dr. Dieter Schuster, a numerical mathematician. From the combination of the two areas of expertise a first numerical algorithm and a web-based tool capable to simulate migration, i.e. a “digital laboratory” was born.
migraDASH – migration simulation dashboard – generates migration results in support of safety evaluation and risk assessment in the context of consumer safety, e.g. drinking water, food, cosmetics, toys, pharmaceuticals, and other consumer products.
Dr. Dipl. Wirt. Chem. Rainer Brandsch, Managing Director
Dr. Rainer Brandsch (1969) studied Chemistry at the Technical University Karlsruhe, Germany with main focus on technical and polymer chemistry. After graduation in chemistry science in 1996 he started his doctoral studies at the University Freiburg, Freiburger Materialforschungszentrum (FMF), Germany which he succeeded in 1999. In parallel he studied economic science at the distance University Hagen, Germany.
After a two year engagement in chemical industry as head of laboratory he joined an applied research laboratory for six years as research scientist being involved in the major national and international research projects (AIF, BMBF, EU, industry associations) focused on the topic of interaction between packaging and filled goods (food, cosmetic, pharma, etc.). In 2005 he took over the management of the non-profit industry association for food technology and packaging e.V., of which he was the executive chairman of the board from 2008 to 2010.
Dr. Rainer Brandsch is an internationally recognized expert in migration modelling and compliance evaluation of food contact materials and founder of the companies SAFE+ Certification GmbH (Certification & Petitioning) and SAFE+ Algorithmics GmbH ("digital laboratory").
Dr. Rainer Brandsch is member of the Migration Modeling Task Force, and scientific advisor to the EU Commission, member of the Commodities Commission at the German Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and member of the KTW-Commission of the German Environmental Protection Agency (UBA).
Dr. Dipl. Math. Dieter Schuster, Managing Director
Dr. Dieter Schuster (1981) studied Mathematics at the Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany with focus on numerical mathematics and computer science. After graduation he worked in mathematical modelling for information systems for three years. Afterwards he started his doctoral studies in physics of the atmosphere in a collaboration project between the German Weather Service, the Mathematical department of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and the Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz. In 2014 he was awarded a doctorate from the Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz for building a numerical atmosphere system.
Since 2014 Dr. Dieter Schuster is working in mathematical modelling and operational running of these models for the EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG. In 2018 Dr. Dieter Schuster started to build together with Dr. Rainer Brandsch a prototype of a numerical solver for material transport. This numerical solver was the basis for migraSIM and the cornerstone for the foundation of SAFE+ Algorithmics GmbH.
